Angel Tattoos

Angel Tattoos
Angel Tattoos
Angel tattoos make an amazing tattoo choice for both men and women. Reasons for Choosing an angel tattoo do not seem to be required. It obvious, not only are they absolutely stunning but have a deep symbolic meaning. They are the link between man and god, the creatures that unite mere mortals to celestial beings, and they are the forces that connect heavenly spaces to earthly grounds.

Angel tattoos were amongst the very first to be inked because of their connection to god and religion. They are referenced in many religions from Christianity to Judaism and even Islam and Zoroastrianism. Different angels stand for different things. In Judaism, the Angel, Gabriel, which represents the strength of god performs acts of justice and power. In Islam, The angels Mu'aqqibat, keep people from death until its decreed time. In Christianity the Angle Michael who represents the great prince who stands up for the children of your people.

Now, from my experience I have seen many individuals who are very particular about the angel they get inked, they know the name, their history and from which religion they belong. But I also have known many individuals who like the idea of having an angel and come in with pictures which have made an impact on them. Maybe it will be the expression on the angel’s face, what they are holding, the light there are radiating, or even in some cases a person that, that angel reminds them of. For example many individuals will get a angel tattoo and have their mothers, daughters, sons, or friends name inked on alongside it, signifying the angelic presence of their friends and family’s life in their own.

Guardian angel tattoos

The most common choice for angel tattoos are that of guardian angels. When we think of angels the first thing we associate with them is protection. They serve to protect and guard us against any adversity and any foreboding. They are the bringers of luck and good fortune. They lovingly act as our guide while on planet earth and help us reach our ultimate destinies that we were meant for. As they are creatures of god, an tattoo of an angel seems to bridge the gap between god and the individual. It connects them to their spiritual side, encouraging them to do the right thing and be a decent person. The angel tattoo will serve as a strong reminder that god is watching, through the good and the bad. Guardian angels generally are depicted as winged creatures that have a halo, a disc of bright yellow at their crowns, possibly sitting on a cloud, and could be holding an instrument such as a harp or a trumpet.

Fallen angel tattoos

Many people will opt for the opposite symbology of an angel in the form of a fallen angels, which were angels at first but because of their rebellious nature and misdeeds were thrown out of heaven. Individuals that will go for such a tattoo will generally feel as though they don’t belong, or individuals repenting something they are have done. I have also seen tattoos of  fallen angels that are trying to reach heaven again, representing individuals that they done wrong in the past but are trying to make their wrongs right or rise above a troubled past or event.

Cupid angel tattoos

A more lighter choice for a angel tattoo could be in the form of a sweet cupid angel, or more commonly known as the angel of love. Cupid is shown with a picture of a bow and arrow which he strikes potential lovers with. I have seen some adorable cupid tattoos with the names of a couple inked around it. Maybe it would make a fantastic tattoo choice for someone who runs an online dating site!

Wings tattoos

More than other of the above categories, tattoos of angel wings are hugely popular. Large angel wings make residence on the backs of many men and women. This may represent a simper version of an angelic presence or even that the wearer posses angel like abilities. They are able to be their own guide and protector. Interpreted in another way it could represent a lightness of being, a free spirited individual who has the freedom and liberty do to what he or she pleases. A friend of mine has a tattoo on his back of angel wings and below them the names of his children. A beautiful tattoo which made him believe god is and always will be watching over them and shield them against any harm.
