Couple tattoos are a nice way of showing the love, dedication and the value that you have for each other.

Some couple tattoos I have come across are absolutely adorable; some are really weighty while others will be really sweet and light.

Placement Of Couples Tattoos

Now while you could have a couple tattoo anywhere on your body, couple tattoos inked on body parts that lock together are a good place to consider. For example hands, fingers, forearms, allow for two incomplete parts to come together to form a single complete image or quote. Unless you both are contemplating getting a couple tattoo which is identical and does not require the two tattoos to form a single one, then the tattoo can be inked pretty much anywhere.

A lock and key are hugely popular and amongst one of my favorite couple tattoos. Historically the lock and key have been meant for something that is precious and needs to be safe guarded. It’s a beautiful analogy whereby there is only one key to every lock, in the same way there is one person who can enter my body and soul. Only one person has that access and privilege. Historically the women represents a lock and the man a key, but now I see many couples doing it the other way around. Mostly all couples will have their respective lock and key in the same body part.

Many couples will choose to ink a image or quote that it is incomplete, which only completes when the two halves come together. There are countless tattoos in this category, from the deep, to the whimsical. From a simple circle which represents eternity and wholeness, to two pieces of a puzzle that fit together, to probably the most common, half hearts on each partner which becomes a whole when joined together.

I saw a really cute one recently where each partner had a cute parrot, which seemed to be sitting on half a swing, but when the two come together it was really sweet! I loved the small little hearts around them too. These kind of tattoos work best on the hands, forearms and the shoulders, basically any part that can be connected or aligned together.

Couple tattoos that are opposite in nature such as Lock and key, king and queen crowns, even images of lovers such as Bonnie inked on one individual and Clyde inked on another, Disney characters images, such as Mini and Mickey, Donald and Daisy Duck, Jasmin and Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and even an image of Tarzan and Jane would look super cute. I recently came across a couple, one had a lighthouse and the other a ship spanning across their forearms and it was stunning. If you are not so animated than a more mechanical yet effective (+) tattoo on one partner and a (-) or even a female robot and a male robot on respective hands. It could be in just about any category, as long as they complement each other.
