Dragons in the west are often portrayed as being malicious villains that need a specially skilled person termed the ‘dragon slayer’ to rid the local people of the havoc and destruction that the dragon is creating.

Many people choose to ink western style dragon tattoos and its wearer usually wants the tattoo to suggest that they too like their dragon tattoo is a force to reckon with, who when threatened or provoked can demonstrate the same destructiveness, resulting in their enemies essentially burning to ashes.

In the east however, especially in china and Japan, there is no other creature that is ranked higher than the dragon, even human beings are secondary to a dragon.
